A Kilt, A Train And A Blue Sky

Beret~Topshop/ Blouse~Zara/ Kilt~Vintage/ Shoes~Asos

If I had a penny for every time I have visited this train station, my pockets would be filled with shiny coins. There's just something about old-fashioned steam engines and how they have retired to the tracks to relax and rust. January can be a very 'meh' month, so to speak. Still in the limbo of Christmas, but with everyone slowly increasing their energy levels and achieving their resolutions. For me it is definitely a month to reflect and stroll, a lot! Winter walks are my absolute favourite. It is as if with each stride comes a new thought and for me that is the magic of this 'meh' month. So each time I myself, come back to this train station, I breathe a sigh of relief that this is where my imagination can chug along.

This kilt was a gift from my mum for Christmas, we had been searching high and low in all kinds of charity shops and vintage corners for months- but alas, all we could find were pleated ones that unfortunately were never in my size. So you can imagine how gleeful my face was when I opened this tartan treasure on Christmas morning. Although, I had no idea a piece of cotton was just making itself at home on the skirt throughout these pictures- but what can you do? :)

Next weekend my boyfriend and I are off to Paris for a couple of days, it is the first proper little holiday we have had together, so I am ever so excited to be visiting one of my favourite cities again. I haven't been since 2010, which in my head sounds like that year was five minutes ago...but actually it is nearly a decade ago. If anyone has any great recommendations of what to see or where to eat, I would absolutley love to hear them.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Lots of love always

Steam Train Station Of Blooms

Top~Zara/ Culottes~Zara/ Shoes~Primark/ Bag~ Market

Hello my dears and welcome to mid-summer,

July is a special month, just over half-way through the year and questioning how much we have achieved, what we hope to gain and often opportunities we wish we had grabbed in the moment. Overall, it is a month full of thought and more often than not, dabbles of sunshine and blue skies.

Drying flowers has continued to be one of my biggest enjoyments, watching them initially give life into my room in a vase and then over time watching them crisp, keep their colour and sit in amongst their petal friends in various wicker baskets around my room. Wow, that was a sentence you needed to take a big breath before saying. I know a great little place that does fresh bunches that won't burn a hole in your pockets and it has become a Sunday tradition to travel there and pick up a couple of varieties on my weekends off.

Sometimes I feel like I am living in a time warp, the steam train station in the pictures above is quite literally like walking out of a book you would read growing up in the 50's. Big, bold vintage signs cover the brick walls and I have never seen a station so filled with colourful flowers and character. You can sit on one of the vintage benches, watch the stream and listen out for the smoke puffing out of the chimney as the train approaches the corner.

Life is giving me lemons at the moment, I can feel the citrus on my skin and am embracing all that it has to offer me whilst I can. Freckles are appearing from nowhere all over my limbs and I feel very lucky to have had a little burst of brightness in my life recently. Long may the positivity last, for everyone.

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer and surrounded by wonderful people and nature.

Lots of love always

Happy New Year

Hello loves and a very Happy New Year to you all.
I had a very relaxing start to 2017, spent cosy by the fire with my family and my bestie. Talking through the pros and cons of the year whilst sipping Prosecco that had lost its fizz and Jools Holland in the background- the usual.
I don't want to speak too soon, but so far so good and despite the chill that ever so often arrives in January, I am in very high spirits.

So, to kick of new beginnings in 'style', here are a few snaps of  me in one
of my favourite comfy outfits, a bright red lip and a trusty beret.

I hope you had a lovely new year and would love to hear what you got up to.

Lots of love always

Baby Blue Beach Hut

Beret~Ebay/Dress~Sister Jane via Asos/Shoes~Topshop

Happy December! Christmas is just around the corner now and what better way to get into the winter spirit than stand next to a load of pastel coloured beach huts....or not!
The beach is my happy place and I try to get there as often as possible. Even on the coldest of days.

My new dress from Sister Jane via Asos is 100% my dream dress.
It has all the perfect elements, from the gingham and the blue to the length and the lace trim.
And just look at the sleeves!
I feel like a Disney character or something, with an extra dash of nostalgia.

Also I just realised whilst putting these pics up that I had left the side tag still on, woops! I must have just been a bit too eager to get dressed up in it. Never mind eh?

I'm going to be doing a few Christmas related DIY's over the next few weeks, so have a little look out for those if you would like.
They will be filled with pompoms and chocolates :)

Lots of Love always

It's A Lighthouse Thing

Beret~Accessorize/Shirt~H&M/Trousers~Topshop/ Shoes~Topshop

Hello Beauts and Happy Monday!

Since moving back to Devon it has been so lovely to just be able to venture out to the coast and breathe in that sea air, whenever I need to blow away those cobwebs. Even with the weather getting increasingly more cold and like days drawing in quickly- there is always time for a stroll.

After re watching Moonrise Kingdom a week or so ago, I put myself on a mission-
to find the perfect lighthouse!
A little bit of an odd request, but I definitely found a few contenders.
The red and white stripey one, with its miniature windows and colourful paint was my favourite-it even matched my tartan trousers!

As you may have also noticed, my blog has had a little update. My wonderful wonderful friend Ru designed my brand new banner and I am just so in love with it. She managed to capture the essence of everything I wanted my blog to be- I hope you like it too :)

I simply cannot believe it is December in a few days, Christmas is just around the corner
and I desperately need to get organised. Especially as I am cooking for six this year!

Do you have any great Christmas traditions? I would love to hear them.

Lots of love always
